  • Function

The soluble form is chemotactic for T-cells and monocytes, but not for neutrophils. The membrane-bound form promotes adhesion of those leukocytes to endothelial cells. May play a role in regulating leukocyte adhesion and migration processes at the endothelium. Binds to CX3CR1.
  • Tissue specificity

Small intestine, colon, testis, prostate, heart, brain, lung, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the intercrine delta family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

A soluble short 95 kDa form may be released by proteolytic cleavage from the long membrane-anchored form.
O-glycosylated with core 1 or possibly core 8 glycans.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted and Cell membrane.

Question

A customer has just received the CX3CL1 protein #AB9820 and asked how to dissolve the lyophilized product. There are no recommendations on the datasheet. Because some proteins have to be solved not in water but in buffers or acids, I have not answered directly. I would appreciate your fast response. Kind regards,

Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. The lyophilized protein is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at –20°C. We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml. Aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C.Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
