I bought the kits ab126287 and ab118970 and would like to know if they are compatible with protein samples extracted using RIPA buffer (so with SDS, triton) or if I need to use a different extraction buffer? Your protocol suggest to dissolve protein in water but I extract proteins from cells so I need a buffer that will lyse the cells. Can they be used on samples that have been frozen after lysis/protein extraction?

I confirmed with the laboratories that typically we do not recommend RIPA buffer for these kits since it contains SDS which can denature proteins.
We suggest to use the lysis buffer that comes with the ab118970 Lipid Peroxidation (MDA) Assay Kit and follow the suggestions for sample preparation for the ab126287 Protein Carbonyl Content Assay Kit .
