      • Firefly
      • Luciferase
      • Luciferin 4 monooxygenase
    • Relevance

Luciferase from the firefly has become one of the more widely used reporter proteins for the study of gene expression. Luciferase catalyzes a bioluminescent reaction which requires the substrate luciferin as well as Mg2+ and ATP. Mixing these reagents with the cell extract containing luciferase, results in a flash of light that decays rapidly. This light can be detected by a luminometer. The total light emission is proportional to the luciferase activity of the sample.

    Answer

    Thank you for contacting us.

Our EasyLink conjugation kits are used to conjugate prepared enzymatic, fluorescent or biotin/streptavidin conjugates to antibodies.

    https://www.abcam.com/index.html?pageconfig=resource&rid=13148#enzymatic

Currently we do not carry a luciferase conjugation kit. The firefly luciferase protein ab100961 has not been prepared with the correct chemistry to be used with a conjugation kit so it won't work, unfortunately.

I am sorry thatthis informationcould not be morehelpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

    Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. The MSDS is linked to each online datasheet where the product requires one.  It is on the right hand side of the page under the shipping and pricing information (under the "Datasheet PDF" link). For ab290: https://www.abcam.com/assets/popups/popup_msds.cfm?intMSDSID=3 The secondary ab97051 and protein ab100961 do not require an MSDS as these are non-hazardous products.  Please let me know if you require a statement confirming this. I hope this information helps.  Please contact us with any other questions.
