Stability and Storage
Shipped at 4°C. Store at -20°C.
Constituent: 0.02% Trifluoroacetic acid
This product is an active protein and may elicit a biological response in vivo, handle with caution.
-
ReconstitutionCentrifuge vial before opening. When reconstituting the product, gently pipet and wash down the sides of the vial to ensure full recovery of the protein into solution. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. Reconstituted material should be aliquoted and frozen at -20°C. It is recommended that a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is added for long term storage.

Function
Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the TGF-beta family. -
