RelevanceDGKG (Diacylglycerol kinase gamma ) reverses the normal flow of glycerolipid biosynthesis by phosphorylating diacylglycerol back to phosphatidic acid. This enzyme initiates resynthesis of phosphoinositides consumed by phospholipase C during cellular signal transduction. DGK gamma is one of multiple DGK isozymes found in animal cells. It is expressed abundantly in the human retina and to a much lesser extent in the brain. Other tissues contain extremely low levels.
