  • Function
Haptoglobin combines with free plasma hemoglobin, preventing loss of iron through the kidneys and protecting the kidneys from damage by hemoglobin, while making the hemoglobin accessible to degradative enzymes.
  • Tissue specificity
Expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma.
  • Sequence similarities
Belongs to the peptidase S1 family.
    Contains 1 peptidase S1 domain.
    Contains 2 Sushi (CCP/SCR) domains.
  • Cellular localization
    Secreted.
  • Information by UniProt

Question
Answer

Thank you for your recent telephone enquiry.
I can confirm the following information regarding our haptoglobin proteins:

ab77872 Haptoglobin protein
This protein is purified from a mix of donors and so contains all 3 forms.

ab90924 Haptoglobin protein (Human)
Again, this is mixed

ab63120 ab83165 and ab83167 beta haptoglobin proteins:
Haptoglobin is a tetramer of two alpha and two beta chains, connected by disulfide bridges. The chains originate from a common precursor protein, which is proteolytically cleaved during protein synthesis. Our recombinant Haptoglobin β-chain comprises a 245 amino acid fragment (162-406) corresponding to the mature haptoglobin β-chain and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.

ab73587 Haptoglobin protein (His tag)

I have the sequence of the protein for you. However, I am sorry I have not yet confirmed which form of the protein this is. As soon as we have more information, I will get back to you.

I can also confirm that regrettably these have not been tested in functional studies.

I am sorry we do not have the range of specific proteins you require on this occasion. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Good luck with your research.
