  • Function

Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins.
  • Sequence similarities

    Belongs to the TGF-beta family.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.

Question

I will be using recombinant human inhibin A (dimer, bto alpha and beta A chains with his tag) as calibrator. Just to confirm suitable antibodies Anti inhibin beta A (ab4241) for capture and anti inhibin alpha (ab47720) for reporter. Ok? Best regards,

Answer

Thank you for your email. Ab4241 is raised against Inhibin beta A chain and ab47720 is raised against Inhibin alpha cahin. Theoretically these antibodies can be used in sELISA experiment. I am however unable to confirm because we haven't tested these antibodies together. We do not have data to prove the assumption of using this abs together. You may need to optimize the protocol yourselves. TheInhibin beta A chain and Inhibin alpha protein sequence does not match so the antibodies against these proteins can be used in sELISA. Please also be advised that ab4241 and ab47720 are not conjugated antibodies; any of these can be used as detection or capture ab however you will need a tertiary conjugated antibody for detection. Now if you are planning to use ab4241 and ab47720 please be aware that both of these are mouse monoclonal; the tertiary anti mouse antibody will bind to both capture and detections ab thereforewill givehigh background intensity. This situation can be overcome by using one rabbit and other mouse antibody. I suggest using ab93847, ab97705 or ab113489 as substitution for ab4241 or ab35106, ab81234 as subs for ab47720. Finally, if you choose 2 antibodies taking in consideration of the above information I sent; I can then provide you2 Abreview discount codes for using these antibodies together in sELISA. You can get 2 antibodies freeof charge in your next purchase with these discount codes. To activate the discount codes you have to use the products together thereby submitting an Abreview. Answer

Thank you for contacting us. The product ab119449 is an Inhibin beta A protein however the antibodies are ab105927 (4A2F2)and ab47720 (4E2) are anti Inihibin alpha so these antibodies cannot used in conjunction with ab119449. You may however consider using ab4241 or ab93847 with ab119449. I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
