    Catalytic histone acetyltransferase subunit of the RNA polymerase II elongator complex, which is a component of the RNA polymerase II (Pol II) holoenzyme and is involved in transcriptional elongation. Elongator may play a role in chromatin remodeling and is involved in acetylation of histones H3 and probably H4. May also have a methyltransferase activity.

The lab have confirmed that under our own assay conditions, SIRT4 (ab101713) and KAT9(ELP3) (ab105858) proteins have not shown significant activity and that is why we have not labeled them as active. However, some phosphorylation may be present as we do not test specifically for phosphorylation, we only test for activity. SIRT4 is expressed in E.Coli and KAT9 is expressed in Sf9 cells so KAT9 is more likely to have some post translational modifications.
