  • Relevance
    PI 3-Kinase is a dimer composed of an 85kD subunit and a 110kD subunit. At least three genes (a, b and g) are known to encode the 85kD subunit, which has no catalytic activity and is thought to regulate the kinase activity of the 110kD catalytic subunit. Two SH2 domains are located at the C-terminus of the 85kD subunit, which have been shown to bind receptors and intracellular proteins phosphorylated on tyrosine. The N-terminal region of the 85kD subunit contains a SH3 domain. Recent evidence suggests that PI 3-Kinase may be involved in directing activated receptor trafficking.
