    SPINLW1 (Serine peptidase inhibitor-like, with Kunitz and WAP domains 1)is a serine protease inhibitor which contains both kunitz-type and WAP-type four-disulfide core (WFDC) protease inhibitor consensus sequences. Serine proteases play roles in sperm surface modifications and sperm maturation. Serine protease inhibitors, such as SPINLW1, regulate serine proteases during these processes. SPINLW1 coats the surface of human ejaculate spermatozoa and originates from Sertoli and epididymal epithelial cells.
