  • Function

May regulates the activity of several effector molecules involved in synaptic plasticity and neuronal cell survival, including MAPKs, Src family kinases and NMDA receptors.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class subfamily.
    Contains 1 tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

Phosphorylation at Ser-245 by PKA deactivates PTPN5. Phosphorylation at Thr-255 and Ser-268 by MAPKs stabilizes the phosphatase, dephosphorylation of these sites results in ubiquitin-mediated degradation of the active phosphatase.
  • Cellular localization

    Endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
  • Information by UniProt

Images

Customer reviews and Q&As

Answer

Thank you for contacting us last week in regards to the STEP / PTPN5 protein.

As discussed over the phone, I have checked into whether the enzymatic activity of either ab92052 or ab132095 has been established. Unfortunately, the activity of neither of these proteins has been tested yet. This does not mean that they do not have any activity, but that we have not tested it ourselves and would therefore not be able to guarantee their performance.

Having said this, I would suggest ab132095 would be more likely to maintain the biological activity as ab92052 is a truncation of the full length protein, and it contains 6M urea.

If you would like to purchase ab132095 and use it in your enzymatic assay, you would be eligible to participate in the Abtrial scheme. This offer means that if you purchase ab132095 as normal, test the protein for its biological activity and let us know of the results through an Abreview (no matter whether positive or negative) you would then be eligible to claim the value of ab132095 off any product in our catalogue. More information on this offer can be found here:

www.abcam.com/abtrial

Please note that the protein to be tested must be purchased, tested, the Abreview submitted and the free product claimed within a 4 month period.

If you would be interested in participating in this scheme please do let me know as a discount code needs to be issued prior to the purchase of ab132095.

I hope this information has been of help. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us again.
