protein 96% pure
uses protein to infuse into birds (30 g sparrows) and they die due to this (untested application)
What are the other 4% impurities?
What else is in the lyophlized powder (buffer composition before hand)?

Thank you for contacting us.
The lab let me know the following:
The protein is lyophilized with no additives, which means that it is HPLC purified. Therefore, the only buffer that would be present at lyophilization would be water and 0.1% TFA (Triflouroacetic acid). This buffer is volatile, and will therefore evaporate out during the lyophilization process. Therefore, only a trace amount of this buffer would be present in the final formulation of the lyophilized protein.
The protein is > 98% pure by HPLC and SDS-PAGE.
Thus, we are not sure what is in the protein solution that could kill the birds, unless trace amounts of TFA could have such devastating effect.
We do however have not tested the protein in this way and also do not recommend using our products for in vivo studies.
I hope this information is of some help to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
