Preparation and Storage

  • Stability and Storage

Shipped at 4°C. Store at 4°C prior to reconstitution. Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycle. It is important to note that this product is reported to be light sensitive. Reconstitute for long term storage.

    Constituent: 0.1% Gelatin

    100µg Mouse albumin

This product is an active protein and may elicit a biological response in vivo, handle with caution.

  • Reconstitution
Reconstitute the vial by injection of 1ml distilled or deionized water (Caution the vial is under vacuum). Store stock solution after reconstitution at -20°C. Note: Mouse Interferon beta is highly labile when agitated. Repeated freeze and thaw cycles and prolonged exposure to light will cause loss of activity. Under recommended storage conditions, product is stable for one year.

Answer

Thank you for contacting us.

We unfortunately have not determined the half life of this product. We do not generally determine this for antibodies. The experimental optimizations has to be determined by end user.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Question
Answer

Thank you for your inquiry.

I checked with the supplying lab and they only check the bioactivity of the beta interferon by determination of the amount that protects 50% of the indicator cell population from viral destruction.

They do not determine the consumption or clearance of the protein in experimental models over time, so we are not able to help you with data regarding half-life.
I am sorry that this information could not be more helpful, but please contact us with any other questions.

Answer

Thank you for contacting Abcam yesterday.

Please find the answers to your questions below:

1. Our indicator cells that we have been using for determine virus production by IFN-beta are L929 cells.

2. Yes, endotoxin levels are tested. Our QC criteria are < 24 EU / ml.

3. We only measure our IFN-alpha in active units and do not determine mg amount. One unit of mouse beta interferon is the amount of beta interferon which protects 50% of the indicator cell population from viral destruction.

4. We have no information about the sequence compared with Swiss-Prot P01575. Our Mouse Beta Interferon is selected on its bioactivity and approximates the bioactivity contained in one unit of the mouse beta interferon standard prepared by NIH (Gb02-902-511).

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
