Preparation and Storage

  • Stability and Storage

Shipped at 4°C. Store at +4°C short term (1-2 weeks). Store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze / thaw cycle.

    pH: 7.4
Constituents: 92% Phosphate Buffer, 8.7% Sodium chloride

This product is an active protein and may elicit a biological response in vivo, handle with caution.

  • Reconstitution
Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8°C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20°C to -70°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

  • Function

Released during platelet aggregation. Neutralizes the anticoagulant effect of heparin because it binds more strongly to heparin than to the chondroitin-4-sulfate chains of the carrier molecule. Chemotactic for neutrophils and monocytes. Inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, the short form is a more potent inhibitor than the longer form.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

Binds non-covalently to a proteoglycan molecule.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.
  • Information by UniProt
