    The adhesion process to host cells plays a key role in the pathogenesis of bacteria such as Aeromonas spp. Among the various factors that influence bacterial virulence, a possible role has been attributed to porins, proteins located on bacterial gram negative outer membrane (OM). Outer Membrane Porins (OMP) allow interaction with the external environment and are involved in the pathogenic mechanisms aiding the adhesive process, that is essential for an efficient host cell invasion.
