The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

  • Applications

    SDS-PAGE

  • Purity

    > 90 % SDS-PAGE.
Staphylococal Protein A was purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Purity: Greater than 90.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Anion-exchange FPLC. (c) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE, Silver Stained. Note: A specific purification process was used to get the recombinant protein A with the purity of more than 98% , no human IgG affinity step is used during validated fermentation and purification and the protein is devoid of bacterial contaminants found normally in native Protein A. (Free of Staphylococcus endotoxins and hemolysin).
  • Form

General Info

  • Alternative names

    • IgG binding protein A
    • Immunoglobulin G binding protein A
    • SPA
  • Relevance

S.aureus binds IgG molecules by their Fc region. In serum, the bacteria will bind IgG molecules in the wrong orientation on their surface, which hinders opsonization and phagocytosis. Mutants of S. aureus lacking protein A are more efficiently phagocytosed in vitro, and mutants in infection models have diminished virulence. Due to its affinity for the Fc region of many mammalian immunoglobulins, protein A is considered a universal reagent in biochemistry and immunology.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted; cell wall.
