Question

Product code: 34858
Inquiry: I am looking for a primary antibody to deplete erythrocytes through immunocapture (attaching the primary antibody to a magnetic particle, then capturing erythrocytes and removing them with a magnetic field). Ab34858 looks encouraging as it agglutinates, demonstrating it sees surface antigens. The 3 references refer to PfEMP1, which is a surface antigen expressed when the malarial parasite infects an RBC - can you confirm that Ab34858 binds to all human erythrocytes before I order and try it. Also if there is any information on immuno-capture, that would be very helpful

Answer

Thank you for contacting us and your interest in our products.

Unfortunately, I do not have any further information to share in relation to the epitope recognised by the anti-Red Blood Cells antibody (ab34858). We have notourselves performed any detailed studies to elucidate the specific bound antigens.

We have not tested this whole antiserum (ab34858) for the proposed experiment or against all blood types and therefore cannot guarantee the results. This does not mean that it would not work, simply that we have not tested it ourselves.

I am sorry I could not be of more help. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Answer

Thank you for your call today and for your questions about ab34858. I have checked through my internal notes and the concentration previously listed on the datasheet (90 mg/mL) is incorrect. This antibody is provided as whole antiserum and the concentration is not determined. When staining cells with a whole antiserum, we recommend a 1:50-1:100 dilution.

I've created a discount code which can be redeemed for a free primary antibody after submitting an Abreview for ab34858 in ICC (cell staining). Please see below for more details, and let me know if you have any questions or need anything else.

DISCOUNT CODE: ***
Expiration date: June 16, 2012

This code will give you 1 free primary antibody before the expiration date.
