Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab23331 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
WB Use a concentration of 1 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 37 kDa. Good results were obtained when blocked with 5% non-fat dry milk in 0.05% PBS-T.
IHC-P Use a concentration of 4 - 8 µg/ml. Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval via the microwave method before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

  • Function
Terminal component of the liver microsomal stearyl-CoA desaturase system, that utilizes O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to catalyze the insertion of a double bond into a spectrum of fatty acyl-CoA substrates including palmitoyl-CoA and stearoyl-CoA.
  • Sequence similarities
Belongs to the fatty acid desaturase family.
  • Domain
The histidine box domains may contain the active site and/or be involved in metal ion binding.
  • Cellular localization
    Endoplasmic reticulum membrane.

  • Anti-SCD1 antibody (ab23331) at 1 µg/ml + Fetal liver lysate

HRP conjugated anti-Rabbit IgG should be diluted in 1/50,000 - 100,000

Observed band size: 37 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?)

  • Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of human liver tissue labelling SCD1 with ab23331 at a concentration of 4-8µg/ml. Cells with positive staining are marked by arrows. Magnification: X400.
