    • Product overview

Secretory Phospholipase A2 Assay Kit (ab133089) provides an accurate and convenient method for measurement of secretory PLA2 (sPLA2) activity. This assay uses the 1,2-dithio analog of diheptanoyl phosphatidylcholine which serves as a substrate for most PLA2s (e.g., bee and cobra venoms, pancreatic, etc.) with the exception of cytosolic PLA2. Upon hydrolysis of the thio ester bond at the sn-2 position by PLA2, free thiols are detected using DTNB (5,5’-dithio-bis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid)).

If you want to detect cytosolic PLA2, we recommend using Cytosolic Phospholipase A2 Assay Kit (ab133090).

      Question

      Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Dr Christina Kanonidou and I am interested in an assay kit for the determination of Lp-PLA2 (PAF-AH) activity in plasma/serum for a research protocol.

I would be grateful if you could inform me whether you have such a kit available and if yes, could you please forward the relevant prospectous to me?

It would also be much appreciated if you could inform me about the cost of it and if there is a distributor of your products in Greece.

      Thank you in advance.

      With kind regards,

      Answer

      Thank you for your inquiry.

I am sorry to confirm that we do not offer a kit for the measurement of the activity specifically of Lp-PLA2 (phospholipase A2, group VII (platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase, plasma) = Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 = PLA2G7).

Cytosolic Phospholipase A2 Assay Kit (ab133090) can be used to determine the activity of cytosolic Phospholipase A2 (cPLA2, PLA2G4 = Phospholipase A2, group IVA (cytosolic, calcium-dependent)) in purified preparations, cell cultures, or tissue homogenates.
Use of this assay with preparations containing more than one type of PLA2 will result in the measurement of total PLA2 activity rather than cPLA2 alone.

Maybe this kit would be suitable for you?

Please review the datasheet to confirm that this kit would be suitable for your experiments.

I am happy to confirm that we sell directly to Greece. Please set your location on our homepage to Greece (in the right top corner). This will provide country specific information about prices and shipping, etc.

I hope this information is helpful and wish you good luck with your experiments.
