RelevanceThe septins are a family of cytoskeletal GTPases that play an essential role in cytokinesis in mammalian cells. Septin 2 (Nedd5) is a mammalian septin known to associate with actin based structures such as the contractile ring and stress fibers. It is involved in cytokinesis and may assemble into a multicomponent structure.

ab58657 staining Septin 2 in murine oocytes by Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence. The cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised in 0.5% Triton X-100 and then blocked using 1% BSA for 1 hour at 25°C. Samples were then incubated with primary antibody at a 1/25 dilution for 14 hours at 4°C. The secondary antibody used was a goat anti-rabbit IgG conjugated to Cy5®, used undiluted.
