    Sodium-dependent glucose transporter. Has a Na(+) to glucose coupling ratio of 1:1.
    Efficient substrate transport in mammalian kidney is provided by the concerted action of a low affinity high capacity and a high affinity low capacity Na(+)/glucose cotransporter arranged in series along kidney proximal tubules.
  • Involvement in disease

    Defects in SLC5A2 are the cause of renal glucosuria (GLYS1) [MIM:233100]. GLYS1 is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by a normal fasting serum glucose concentration and persistent isolated glucosuria, with a normal glucose tolerance test.

  • Immunohistochemical analysis of mouse kidney frozen section, labeling SGLT2 with ab37296. Tissue sections were fixed with acetone. Blocking was with 2% horse serum for 1 hour at room temperature. Incubation for 16 hours at 4°C with ab37296 diluted 1/100 in 2% horse serum in 1XPBS.

Answer


Yes, different amounts of total protein are loaded to ensure effective detection in different tissues/cells since the level of expression with respect to total protein is different. There is ˜25 ug for the Jurkat cells, ˜75-100 ug in the small intestine samples, 50 ug in the kidney samples.
