Target

  • Function

    Acyl-CoA synthetase involved in bile acid metabolism. Proposed to catalyze the first step in the conjugation of C24 bile acids (choloneates) to glycine and taurine before excretion into bile canaliculi by activating them to their CoA thioesters. Seems to activate secondary bile acids entering the liver from the enterohepatic circulation. In vitro, also activates 3-alpha,7-alpha,12-alpha-trihydroxy-5-beta-cholestanate (THCA), the C27 precursor of cholic acid deriving from the de novo synthesis from cholesterol.

Thank you very much for your call yesterday and for your interest in ab74869.

I've heard back from the lab, and unfortunately the immunogen of this antibody only shares 57% identity with the mouse sequence, so it's not highly likely to cross-react. The immunogens of the other SLC27A5 antibodies have higher identity with mouse, however neither is high enough to definitely say there will be cross-reaction:

Ab97884: 78%
Ab89008: 72%

If you'd like to go ahead and try one of these, we do have a testing program that you can take advantage of, since we can't guarantee that any of these will work with mouse samples.
