    Thought to act as molecular guidance cue in cellular migration, and function appears to be mediated by interaction with roundabout homolog receptors. During neural development involved in axonal navigation at the ventral midline of the neural tube and projection of axons to different regions (By similarity). SLIT1 and SLIT2 together seem to be essential for midline guidance in the forebrain by acting as repulsive signal preventing inappropriate midline crossing by axons projecting from the olfactory bulb.

    Predicted band size: 168 kDa

  • ICC/IF image of ab129345 stained HepG2 cells. The cells were 4% formaldehyde fixed (10 min) and then incubated in 1%BSA / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine in 0.1% PBS-Tween for 1h to permeabilise the cells and block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody ab129345 at 5µg/ml overnight at +4°C. The secondary antibody (green) was DyLight® 488 goat anti- rabbit (ab96899) IgG (H+L) used at a 1/250 dilution for 1h. Alexa Fluor® 594 WGA was used to label plasma membranes (red) at a 1/200 dilution for 1h. DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue) at a concentration of 1.43µM.

  • ab129345, at 1/10 dilution, staining Slit1 in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded Human kidney tissue by Immunohistochemistry, using a peroxidase conjugated secondary antibody and DAB staining.

We are not aware of any published western blots that were stained with anti-Slit1 ab129345.


The Slit1 protein is glycosylated post-translation, so the mature, glycosylated Slit1 is expected to migrate more slowly than the 168kDa precursor. We list 168kDa as the predicted weight based on the size of the precursor that is given at the UniProt entry for the human protein at this page, http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/O75093, which also lists, in the PTM/Processing section, several glycosylation sites.


Other Slit1 antibodies also detect a band higher than 167kDa, for instance the rabbit monoclonal antibody https://www.abcam.com/slit1-antibody-ep5796n-ab183704.html.
