Can you tell me specifically which amino acids were used to raise the SMC1 antibody? I would want to use it to detect SMC1 from another species.

Thank you for your interest in this antibody. It has only been tested for reactivity to the human ortholog. The 16 aa peptide used to generate and affinity purify this antibody is 100% identical to sequences found in human, mouse, rat, and cow SMC1. Fourteen continuous residues are identical to that found in Xenopus. One of the 2 mismatches with Xenopus is a conserved substitution (D vs E). If this is information is not sufficient. Please send the accession number or last 100 residues of SMC1 in the species of your interest, and I will let you know the degree of identity and homology with your ortholog
