  • Function

    It may be responsible for the synthesis of the sequence NeuAc-alpha-2,3-Gal-beta-1,3-GalNAc- found on sugar chains O-linked to Thr or Ser and also as a terminal sequence on certain gangliosides. SIAT4A and SIAT4B sialylate the same acceptor substrates but exhibit different Km values.

Thank you for your enquiry. I can confirm that the protein database links on the datasheet (SwissProt and Unigene) indicate that SIAT4A is expressed in pancreas. However, I am sorry I have done a literature search and I am not able to confirm the expression level of SIAT4A specifically in panc-1 cells. Has the customer found any data or information to suggest there is expression of SIAT4A in panc-1 cells? They may like to try a more extensive literature search. If there is evidence in publications that it is expressed in panc-1, then I can suggest this would be a suitable positive control. Otherwise, I can suggest to try HeLaS3 cells. These cells are commonly used in cell culture laboratories, and perhaps the customer has some colleagues who would be able to provide a small sample for them to use? 293T and A431 are also commonly used and these would also be a suitable positive control.
