Regulates the trafficking and gating properties of AMPA-selective glutamate receptors (AMPARs). Promotes their targeting to the cell membrane and synapses and modulates their gating properties by slowing their rates of activation, deactivation and desensitization. Does not show subunit-specific AMPA receptor regulation and regulates all AMPAR subunits. Thought to stabilize the calcium channel in an inactivated (closed) state.
Belongs to the PMP-22/EMP/MP20 family. CACNG subfamily.

4% formaldehyde-fixed SK-N-BE cells labeling Stargazin using ab167445 at 1/100 dilution in ICC/IF. Cells were fixed for 15 minutes at room temperature and incubated with primary antibody for 1 hour at room temperature. Secondary antibody was a goat anti-mouse ATTO 488 (green) at 1/100 dilution incubated for 1 hour at room temperature. Counterstained with Phalloidin Texas Red F-actin stain. Nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue).
