Product nameStreptavidin Gold Conjugate (10nm, 10 OD)
Gold nanoparticles at Abcam have a proprietary surface coating that can withstand the most extreme conditions (e.g. 2.5 M NaOH at 70°C for 2 hours), making our Gold nanoparticles an ideal reagent for a wide range of applications.
Our Gold streptavidin conjugates share the stability attributes of the core nanoparticle. Furthermore, since the streptavidin is covalently bound to the surface coating of the gold nanoparticle it is unable to desorb, which is a major problem faced by competing products whereby the streptavidin is directly attached to the metal. Our Gold Streptavidin binds with high affinity to biotinylated molecules.
Streptavidin gold nanoparticle conjugates can be used in conjunction with biotinylated reagents such as biotinylated antibodies or proteins, in applications such as lateral flow immunoassays or electron microscopy.
This product is manufactured by Expedeon, an Abcam company. It was previously called 10nm InnovaCoat® GOLD (10 OD) Streptavidin Conjugate. Expedeon product code 252-0200 is the same as the 200 µL size of this product and code 252-1000 is the same as the 1 mL size.

Different concentrations of Streptavidin Gold Conjugate (10nm, 10OD) (ab270041) and 10 nm Streptavidin-gold nanoparticle conjugate from a leading competitor were compared in a lateral flow assay. A rabbit IgG-gold nanoparticle conjugate at 0.2OD was included as a control. Biotinylated BSA was immobilized at the Test line, while goat anti-rabbit antibody was immobilized at the Control line. Abcam’s Streptavidin Gold Conjugate demonstrates a significantly stronger signal than the competitor product at the Test line.
