Sulphapyridine, 4-amino-N-pyridin-2-yl-benzenesulfonamide, is an antibacterial agent used to treat certain skin diseases. It is a competitive inhibitor of bacterial para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), a substrate of the enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase. It is potentially toxic and side effects include increased sensitivity to sunlight, nausea, lower back pain and urinary problems. -
