General notes
ab226218 has not performed satisfactorily when used for WB of Syntaxin 4 in crude preparations (e.g. whole cell lysate). This antibody can be used for WB of enriched (e.g. immunoprecipitated) sources of Syntaxin 4.
The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Function
Plasma membrane t-SNARE that mediates docking of transport vesicles. Necessary for the translocation of SLC2A4 from intracellular vesicles to the plasma membrane. Together with STXB3 and VAMP2, may also play a role in docking/fusion of intracellular GLUT4-containing vesicles with the cell surface in adipocytes (By similarity). May also play a role in docking of synaptic vesicles at presynaptic active zones. -
Tissue specificity
Expressed in neutrophils and neutrophil-differentiated HL-60 cells. Expression in neutrophils increases with differentiation. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the syntaxin family.
Contains 1 t-SNARE coiled-coil homology domain. -
Cellular localization
Cell membrane. - Information by UniProt

Syntaxin 4 was immunoprecipitated from HeLa (human epithelial cell line from cervix adenocarcinoma) whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) with ab226218 at 6 µg/mg lysate. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using a different rabbit anti-Syntaxin 4 antibody at 1 µg/ml.
Lane 1: ab226218 IP in HeLa whole cell lysate.
Lane 2: Control IgG IP in HeLa whole cell lysate.
Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 3 minutes.
