Function
The 26S protease is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. The regulatory (or ATPase) complex confers ATP dependency and substrate specificity to the 26S complex (By similarity). In case of HIV-1 infection, suppresses Tat-mediated transactivation. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the AAA ATPase family. -
Post-translational
modificationsSumoylated by UBE2I in response to MEKK1-mediated stimuli. -
Cellular localization

A549 (human lung carcinoma cell line) cells stained for TBP-1 (green) using ab239029 at 1/530 dilution in ICC/IF, followed by Alexa Fluor 488-congugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) secondary antibody.
The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The nuclear counterstain was DAPI (blue).
