RelevanceTDRD6 (Tudor domain containing protein 6) plays a role in spermiogenesis and chromatoid body formation, and in the expression of precursor and mature miRNA. TDRD6 is found in an mRNP complex with TDRD1, TDRD7 and DDX4. It is also found in complex with PIWIL1 and PIWIL2. TDRD6 localises to the chromatoid body of spermatids (termed processing bodies or P-bodies) in somatic cells.
