Application Abreviews Notes
ELISA Use at an assay dependent concentration.

Titre using peptide based assay: 1:312500.

WB Use a concentration of 1.25 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 45 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 45 kDa). Good results were obtained when blocked with 5% non-fat dry milk in 0.05% PBS-T.

  • Function

Sequence-specific DNA-binding protein that interacts with inducible viral and cellular enhancer elements to regulate transcription of selected genes. AP-2 factors bind to the consensus sequence 5'-GCCNNNGGC-3' and activate genes involved in a large spectrum of important biological functions including proper eye, face, body wall, limb and neural tube development. They also suppress a number of genes including MCAM/MUC18, C/EBP alpha and MYC. AP-2-epsilon may play a role in the development of the CNS and in cartilage differentiation.
  • Tissue specificity

Expressed in skin, primary keratinocytes, immortalized keratinocytes, and HeLa cell line.
  • Sequence similarities

    Belongs to the AP-2 family.
  • Cellular localization

Customer reviews and Q&As

Thank you for contacting us with your enquiry.

I've been in touch with the lab about ab56295 and our other TFAP2E antibody, ab89965, and neither of these has been tested for reactivity against the other family members, so we are unable to guarantee that they won't cross-react.

I aligned the immunogen sequences against the other family members, and there is enough similarity to the alpha and beta forms for cross-reaction, though there is less similarity with the immunogen of ab56295 compared to ab89965.

As neither of these antibodies has been tested in immunohistochemistry, you are eligible for our testing discount program if you would like to test one of them in IHC. As part of this program, you would initially purchase the TFAP2E antibody at full price, test it in IHC, and submit an Abreview with your data. In exchange, we will give you one free primary antibody on a future purchase.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else that we can do for you, and I'll be happy to help you further.
