WB Use a concentration of 1 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 16 kDa. for 2 hours. This antibody has been tested in Western blot against the recombinant peptide used as an immunogen. We have no data on detection of endogenous protein.
ELISA Use at an assay dependent concentration.


  • Function
    Plays a role in the regulation of lipogenesis, especially in lactating mammary gland. Important for the biosynthesis of triglycerides with medium-length fatty acid chains. May modulate lipogenesis by interacting with MID1IP1 and preventing its interaction with ACACA (By similarity). May function as transcriptional coactivator. May modulate the transcription factor activity of THRB.

I am really sorry, however I do really not know what the problem is. I would expect nice bands. Unfortunately we do not have an alternative antibody in our catalogue anymore.

I have checked again also for the ab97504, and have got the confirmation that the images on the datasheet are of the same original batch asthis customeris using. We are not aware of any issue. The customers milk blocked image ofmousehepatocytes shows bands at ˜16 and 72 kDa which is roughly the same as shown on ourdatasheet. The major difference is in the 70 kDa band is much stronger for the customer. Can you please check whetherthe customer didrun a mes gel and transfer onto 0.2 um membrane?

I am sorry that the customer is experiencing problems also with this antibody.In order to exclude any technical problem, I would like to raise the two following points:

1.) Are the samples fresh? I might can recommend to use fresh samples and to heat them only at 70 degrees Celcius for denaturation. Some proteins can aggregate upon too much heat (normally the transmembrane proteins however)

2.) For the ab56193 I can recommend to test also BSA blocking and a subsequent use of BSA in the dilution buffers instead of milk. I would also recommend to use the antibody at 1/2000 for example. (see image on ab9385 for example as an illustration of use of milk and BSA blocking buffers)

I hope these suggestion will improve the staining. As we had discussed the option of this antibody to be used instead of the ab97504, I will see whether we can cover it with our Abpromise nevertheless.

I am very sorry not being able to have found yet the origin of the problem. I will keep investigating and look forward to hear back from the customer.

I had also already requested whether the last of our three antibodies against THRSP might be suitable, however the immunogen of ab111011 shares only about 65% of homology with the mouse sequence and is therefore unlikely to crossreact with the mouse protein.
