Reproducibility is key to advancing scientific discovery and accelerating scientists’ next breakthrough.
Abcam is leading the way with our range of recombinant antibodies, knockout-validated antibodies and knockout cell lines, all of which support improved reproducibility.
We are also planning to innovate the way in which we present recommended applications and species on our product datasheets, so that only applications & species that have been tested in our own labs, our suppliers or by selected trusted collaborators are covered by our Abpromise™ guarantee.
In preparation for this, we have started to update the applications & species that this product is Abpromise guaranteed for.
We are also updating the applications & species that this product has been “predicted to work with,” however this information is not covered by our Abpromise guarantee.
Applications & species from publications and Abreviews that have not been tested in our own labs or in those of our suppliers are not covered by the Abpromise guarantee.

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab233231 in the following tested applications.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
|IHC-P||Use a concentration of 5 - 20 µg/ml.|
|WB||Use a concentration of 0.2 - 2 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 458 kDa.|
FunctionAppears to mediate interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix. Substrate-adhesion molecule that appears to inhibit cell migration. Accelerates collagen fibril formation. May play a role in supporting the growth of epithelial tumors.
Tissue specificityHighly expressed in fetal adrenal, in fetal testis, fetal smooth, striated and cardiac muscle. Isoform XB-short is only expressed in the adrenal gland.
Involvement in diseaseTenascin-X deficiency (TNXD) [MIM:606408]: TNXD leads to an Ehlers-Danlos-like syndrome characterized by hyperextensible skin, hypermobile joints, and tissue fragility. Tenascin-X-deficient patients, however, lack atrophic scars, a major diagnostic criteria for classic Ehlers-Danlos. Delayed wound healing, which is also common in classic EDS, is only present in a subset of patients. Note=The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry.
Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the tenascin family.
Contains 19 EGF-like domains.
Contains 1 fibrinogen C-terminal domain.
Contains 32 fibronectin type-III domains.
Developmental stageExpression levels are lower in adults than in children.
Cellular localizationSecreted > extracellular space > extracellular matrix.
