FunctionRequired to coordinate membrane tubulation with reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton during endocytosis. May bind to lipids such as phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate and phosphatidylserine and promote membrane invagination and the formation of tubules. Also promotes CDC42-induced actin polymerization by activating the WASL/N-WASP-WASPIP/WIP complex, the predominant form of WASL/N-WASP in cells. Actin polymerization may promote the fission of membrane tubules to form endocytic vesicles.

Toca-1 was immunoprecipitated from Jurkat (human T cell leukemia cell line from peripheral blood) whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) with ab241299 at 6 µg/mg lysate. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using a different antibody to Toca-1 that recognises an upstream epitope at 1 µg/ml.
Lane 1: ab241299 IP in Jurkat whole cell lysate.
Lane 2: Control IgG IP in Jurkat whole cell lysate.
Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 30 seconds.
Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human lung carcinoma tissue stained for Toca-1 using ab241299 at 1/1000 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis. DAB staining.
