Target

  • Function

    Stimulates neutrophil and monocyte-mediated inflammatory responses. Triggers release of pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines, as well as increased surface expression of cell activation markers. Amplifier of inflammatory responses that are triggered by bacterial and fungal infections and is a crucial mediator of septic shock.
  • Tissue specificity

    Highly expressed in adult liver, lung and spleen than in corresponding fetal tissue. Also expressed in the lymph node, placenta, spinal cord and heart tissues. Expression is more elevated in peripheral blood leukocytes than in the bone marrow and in normal cells than malignant cells. Expressed at low levels in the early development of the hematopoietic system and in the promonocytic stage and at high levels in mature monocytes. Strongly expressed in acute inflammatory lesions caused by bacteria and fungi. Isoform 2 was detected in the lung, liver and mature monocytes.

Thank you very much for your email and your interest and collaboration offer. Thank you also for your patience while I was investigating. Please find here the answers to your questions: 1.) Those two antibodies are different clones. The ab86490 is lcone RM0138-3C66, whereas the ab106153 is the clone L5-B8. They have therefore most likely a different epitope (which to my knowledge has not been determined). In practical terms, both antibodies have been tested against the mouse proteins, the ab106153 in Flow Cyt, FuncS, ICC/IF, IHC-Fr, WB whereas the ab86490 in IHC-Fr and WB only currently. Both are guaranteed by us to work as stated on the datasheet. 2.) I have been in contact with the laboratories producing these antibodies to ask how they have been tested. The ab106153 has for example been tested in flow cytometry. Please see the attached document. We got also confirmation from the laboratory producing the ab86490 that it has been tested on mouse spleen tissue on frozen section with DAB detection. We have unfortunately not obtained an image of these results. ()
