Properties

Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab156865 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
WB 1/1000 - 1/10000. Detects a band of approximately 15 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 17 kDa).
IHC-P 1/100 - 1/250. Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
ICC/IF 1/100 - 1/250.
  • Application notes
Is unsuitable for Flow Cyt or IP.
  • Target

    • Function
Promotes the fragmentation of the mitochondrial network and its perinuclear clustering. Can induce cytochrome c release from the mitochondrion to the cytosol, ultimately leading to apoptosis. Also mediates peroxisomal fission.
    • Sequence similarities
      Belongs to the FIS1 family.
      Contains 1 TPR repeat.
    • Domain
The C-terminus is required for mitochondrial or peroxisomal localization, while the N-terminus is necessary for mitochondrial or peroxisomal fission, localization and regulation of the interaction with DNM1L.
    • Post-translational
      modifications
      Ubiquitinated by MARCH5.
    • Cellular localization
      Mitochondrion outer membrane. Peroxisome membrane.
