  • Background

Glioblastoma is the highest dedifferentiated form of astrocytic brain tumours, and it is refractory to chemotherapy in most cases. U-87 MG (malignant glioma) cells are used as an vitro model of human glioblastoma cells to investigate the cytotoxic effect of chemotherapeutic drugs towards cancer cells. The lysate is a good positive control for prostate apoptosis response-4 (Par-4) which is upregulated in prostate tumor cells undergoing apoptosis (several Abcam Par-4 abs). It is also a good positive control for Alpha-1-ACT, a serine protease inhibitor tightly associated with amyloid plaques in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and in normal aged human and monkey brain.

    Question

    Hi,
I'm a student and work in a lab. Referenced in the subject line is the nuclear lysate, but just out of curiosity, I was wondering if you have vials of U-87 MG cellular lysate and if so, how many vials of it you sell per month. Thank you for your help.

    Answer

    Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, I am sorry to confirm we do not sell U-87 MG whole cell lysate, only the nuclear lysate (ab14903).

I would like to recommend checking the Biocompare website which has an excellent antibody search facility that includes many suppliers. The links are:

I'm sorry we do not have the specific product for your requirements on this occasion, but I hope this information is nevertheless helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

    Question

Email: kaml@labcorp.com I am interested in the U-87 MG (Human glioblastoma-astrocytoma, epithelial-like cell line) Nuclear Lysate product to isolate total RNA that is stable. Do you know if RNA is stable in your lysate, and if not, is it possible to get whole live cells in order to isolate RNA?

    Answer

Thank you for your interest in ab14903. This lysate is a protein lysate only and is not suitable for DNA/RNA work. Unfortunately we do not have cell lines or tissues available for RNA isolation on our catalog. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.
