  • Background

The U937 cell line is a human cell line established from a diffuse histiocytic lymphoma and displaying many monocytic characteristics. It serves as an in vitro model for monocyte/macrophage differentiation, antitumour testing, tumorigenicity. U937 cells dominantly expressed the 44-46 kDa paxillin forms and IFN-beta and IFN-gamma stimulation lead to the accumulation of 66-70 kDa paxillin forms.

Question

I would like to know if this cell line (U937) is an adherent type or not. I am cultivating these cells and would like to infect them with Leishmania parasite to determine their in vitro sensitivity to some antileishmanial drugs. If this cell line in not an adherent type, please advise on how could I make them to be adhered to the culture flasks or testing chamber slides.
