Mary Gehring (Whitehead Institute, MIT, US)
Mary Gehring and her lab at the Whitehead Institute investigate aspects of epigenetic inheritance and dynamics in plants, working primarily with Arabidopsis. Her recent work has focused on the role of small RNA pathways in transcriptional dosage control in a polyploid seed tissue, the endosperm, and on regulatory mechanisms that underlie stable epigenetic inheritance. Mary holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She is also an Associate Professor of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Hosted by Eleanor Walton (Research Area Lead - Epigenetics, Scientific Project Management, Abcam) joined by meeting chairs Ian Henderson and Peter Rugg-Gunn alongside Mary Gehring who answered your questions during our dedicated Q&A conversation.
