          Webinar objectives

          • Understand chromatin structure and epigenetic regulation of cellular state and how it changes in diseases
          • Reviewing DNA methylation changes in tumor growth GIST
          • Understanding how some epigenetic mechanism can silence tumor cell immunogenicity

          Presenter

Professor Bradley Bernstein, MD, PhD (Harvard Medical School, USA)

Bradley Bernstein, MD, PhD, is the Director of the Gene Regulation Observatory at the Broad Institute and a Professor of Pathology at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

His lab focuses on epigenetic gene regulation, investigating the role of non-coding regulatory elements such as ‘enhancers’ and chromatin gene packaging in gene expression. Bernstein leads the NIH’s ENCODE project mapping the locations and functions of all non-coding elements in the human genome.

Bernstein earned his B.S. from Yale University and his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington before completing a clinical pathology residency and postdoctoral research at Harvard University. He received numerous honors throughout his career, including the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award, an American Cancer Society Professorship, and the Paul Marks Prize for Cancer Research.
